Cantera Oasis Court

pool, spa, putting green, water feature, outdoor lighting, concrete paving, planters, natural stone, retaining walls, drip irrigation, outdoor decor
GO Designs transformed a blank El Paso lot into a high-energy backyard campus where a shimmering salt-water pool, cantera-clad retaining walls, and lush planting pockets echo the spirit of desert modern design. Travertine paving stitches every destination together: the sun-splashed swim deck, a turf-joint plaza for lounging, and a regulation half-court that invites crisp pick-and-roll drills beneath the purple Franklin Mountains. Raised ceramic planters bursting with agapanthus, aloe, and golden barrel cactus punctuate corners while doubling as casual perch points. At poolside, triple scuppers spill silver ribbons into the deep end, masking street sounds with a soothing rush. Beyond the water’s glint rests a contoured putting green carved between weathered boulders; synthetic blades roll true beneath late-day zephyrs. Native pink muhly and statuesque ocotillo sway nearby, their rustling plumes softening hard edges and exemplifying El Paso landscaping that respects scarce rainfall. A rock-framed cascade adds cool mist and the faint scent of wet earth, coaxing evening golfers to linger. At dusk, embedded LEDs wash the cantera walls in honeyed amber, while underwater prisms turn the pool electric sapphire, extending gatherings well past twilight. Succulent planters brim with tactile textures that glow under pinpoint downlights, inviting fingertips as well as eyes. Curved stone benches tame grade changes and frame fragrant beds of desert willow; subtle path lights guide surefooted steps across the courtyard. Every surface drains toward a hidden acequia-inspired trench, preventing monsoon puddling and preserving crisp joints. Intelligent controllers clustered behind a cedar equipment screen orchestrate lighting, filtration, and drip irrigation with barely a whisper, ensuring low-stress ownership and four-season play. From first splash to final buzzer-beater, the composition balances recreation and repose, proving once again that GO Designs elevates everyday life with regionally attuned craft and materials.

Twilight Garden Retreat

pergolas, lighting design, horticulture, hardscape installation, irrigation
GO Designs infused this El Paso backyard with a warm serenity that blooms brightest at dusk. Framed by a rugged stone wall and softened by dense native planting, the space balances structure and softness in equal measure. A rich cedar pergola anchors the main patio, its heavy timbers strung with Edison bulbs that cast a honeyed glow after sunset. Beneath, polished concrete paving glistens with texture—its rain-darkened surface echoing the high desert’s fleeting storms. Curved walkways ribbon out across the lawn, flanked by crushed gravel beds and cool-toned cobble drains that double as sculptural details and smart drainage. Lighting design plays a quiet but commanding role here. Low-voltage path lights flicker along the edges like campfire embers, leading past mulched beds flush with aromatic rosemary, salvia, and native groundcover. Cantera boulders punctuate the planting, adding earthy mass and anchoring the visual flow. The turf—lush yet water-efficient—offers barefoot comfort, and irrigation lines tucked below mulch and sod guarantee discreet but effective hydration throughout the seasons. Even the side yard was given purpose: river rock buffers line the home’s edge, creating clean sightlines and aiding in runoff management. Every planted pocket was carefully composed for seasonal rhythm, ensuring year-round color without high upkeep. This garden doesn’t shout. It hums. The rustle of sotol blades in the breeze, the scent of damp bark after a monsoon sprinkle, and the quiet click of overhead fans under the pergola all invite a slower pace. GO Designs shaped a space that feels at home in the desert—modern, tactile, and timeless. It’s a lived-in elegance built for lingering.

Firelight Slate Terrace

masonry, fire features, pergolas, outdoor kitchen, lighting design, horticulture
GO Designs orchestrated this fire-light slate terrace as a seamless extension of the home’s rhythm. Broad, cool slate pavers meet chisel-faced masonry walls, their midnight-blue flecks mirroring twilight skies. Under a cedar pergola, an outdoor kitchen hums: stainless grill, icemaker, and sink glow with subtle LED banding while a herringbone-lined fireplace crackles with mesquite-scented logs. The heat’s amber shuffle mingles with the gentle splash of a recirculating scupper that feeds a raised planter, creating a soundscape that invites lingering conversation. Steps away, a circular fire feature edged in cantera stone anchors starlit gatherings; its flame washes curved seating walls in liquid gold. Planting takes cues from El Paso landscaping traditions—aromatic rosemary, drought-wise yucca, and wave-motion ornamental grasses soften the hardscape, framing long sightlines toward a children’s playscape. Integrated lighting design tucks underneath capstones and pergola beams, revealing texture without stealing the night. Efficient irrigation offsets desert demands, delivering precise moisture while the slate’s low-solar gain keeps surfaces barefoot-friendly. Every detail answers desert modern design principles: honest materials, lean water use, and layered sensory delight. Even after sundown, lake-cool breezes sift through the pergola lattice, rustling yucca blades and carrying the faint tang of wood smoke. Guests feel the hearth’s radiant warmth through slate underfoot while LED accents trace clean geometry back to the kitchen’s steel sheen. Hand-tooled joints showcase masonry craftsmanship, and the smooth bullnose of the seating ledge invites fingertips to linger between stories and clinking glasses. Maintenance stays light thanks to drip zones and perennial structure, proving that high drama and low fuss can share the same patio. By blending refined craft with regional soul, GO Designs sets the stage for celebrations that glow long after the final ember fades.
